Gamma®

Gamma® is a next-generation burndown herbicide that quickly eliminates weeds, resulting in cleaner vineyards for maximum yield potential and ROI.

Gamma offers grape growers a new tool with a novel active ingredient, an ultra-low use rate and broad tank mix compatibility to expand its weed control spectrum.

Primary Weeds Controlled

Annual bluegrass, Carpetweed, Chickweed, Crabgrass, Dandelion, Downy brome, Evening primrose, Field bindweed, Filaree, Giant foxtail, Green foxtail, Hairy fleabane, Henbit, Kochia, Lambsquarters, Little barley, Mallow, Marestail, Mayweed chamomile, Morningglory species, Mustard, Nightshade species, Pigweed species, Prickly lettuce, Prickly sida, Prostrate knotweed, Purslane, Ragweed species, Shepherd’s purse, Smartweed, Sowthistle, Velvetleaf, Wild buckwheat, Wild oats, Willowweed

The Science: How it works

Gamma is powered by a new active ingredient called Tergeo®, a protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase (PPO)-inhibiting pyrimidinedione herbicide with a WSSA Group 14 classification.

PPO is an enzyme found in chloroplast and necessary for chlorophyll formation in plants. As a pyrimidinedione herbicide, Tergeo® shuts down chlorophyll production and photosynthesis resulting in a rapid build up of reactive oxygen species and lipid per oxidation of the cellular membrane followed by quick herbicidal effects.

Tergeo® is described as being fast-acting with herbicidal effects occurring 24 hours after treatment.

A preeminent new tool for U.S. grape growers, Gamma will eliminate weed competition resulting in cleaner vineyards that maximize yield potential, crop quality, and return on investment.

Gamma’s easy-to-use water-dispersible granular (WDG) formulation with an ultra-low use rate minimizes environmental impact without compromising crop safety.

Field Trial Data

In more than 700 North American product development trials and regulatory studies, the active ingredient in Gamma has demonstrated high performance ratings in burndown efficacy.

As a new directed postemergence application tool in grapes, Gamma can be used alone or in combination with a variety of herbicides. Extensive research has shown that Gamma can boost the effectiveness of other products in the tank, providing the additional power needed to knock out weeds that other herbicides may be missing.
